I Have Nothing to Say

july 23rd, 2009 at 11:08 am

No, really. I've been trying to come up with something to write about and it's just not happening.

The pope

Actually, never mind. I may have just figured out how to get out of the catholic church: have an abortion. Seriously. Apparently being involved in an abortion means automatic excommunication, which sounds just great. Actually, that story is pretty sad: 9-year-old Brazilian girl gets impregnated by her stepfather and has an abortion, so the girl's family and the doctors who performed the abortion were automatically excommunicated from the church. At the time, the Vatican was all "hey guys, let's not be too mean to the little pregnant girl," but they have since "clarified" their position, stating:

It's everybody's favorite bored baby!

I don't have anything interesting to say, so read these.

God Makes me Feel Sick

But apparently that's just me. I read a fun article about the impact of religion on overall health. I learned that I'm going to die two to three years early because I never go to church. Of course, if I went to church for an hour a week, I'd be wasting half a year of my life, not to mention the time I'd spend driving there and back. Oh well, at least I'm not left-handed.

Here's another reason god makes me sick: the Catholic church. I guess I never really thought about it, but it's the only religion that is also a state. There are some Muslim countries that come close, but there's not a King of Islam.

Especially when I see stuff like the Presidential Prayer Team for Kids. Because praying for the president is totally going to make him do a better job. At first I thought this couldn't be serious, but then I remembered that I live in a country initially populated by religious lunatics expelled from Europe. :'( Check out the downloads section; they have a PowerPoint slide!

I did read some cool stuff today though:

Here's an article about praying for lower gas prices that's worth reading. It's entertaining anyway.
